Welcome to my site! My name Abdullah Al Iftekhar Ahmed, I am a Senior Data Engineer based in Ottawa, Canada. This site contains my personal thoughts about topics that I find interesting in software development, data engineering, data architecture and anything in between.
I currently work on developing resilient data pipelines for batch and streaming ETL. I like big data technologies like Apache Spark and Apache Kafka, developing and modeling data warehouse in Amazon Redshift or Snowflake, and related work in query optimization, data analytics and data science. I am most comfortable in Java/Python developing cloud applications in AWS or Azure and PostgreSQL is my all time favorite database management system.
I did a master’s degree in Computer Engineering, and since graduation, I have mostly worked as a back-end software developer in different industries: developing electronic medical record software for the provincial health authority, e-commerce platform for natural practitioners, developing ETL for the largest MSP in the world and also for Governement of Canada.
